Book Traveling Thursdays is a weekly meme hosted by Danielle @ Danielle’s Book Blog and Catia @ The Girl Who Read Too Much. Every week you pick a book based on the theme of the week and post the original cover, your country’s cover, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover. If you would like to participate or find out more, check out the Goodreads page!
Here’s to different worlds! This week we had to choose a book set in a fictional world. I think this means a fantasy world, so I am selecting Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. When I read it a couple years ago, I found it interesting how these children with special powers live frozen in time and that some of them lived on a tiny island. I thought it was delightfully creepy and mysterious. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but it will happen eventually.
Original/Favorite Cover
This is the original cover, and I love that Ransom Riggs took all of the photos in the book himself. This is one of the photographs from inside the novel, and it perfectly introduces the book.
US Covers
The original cover and the movie cover are the only US covers that I am aware of. I like them. The movie cover is beautiful, but the black-and-white photograph matches the other photos inside the book.
Least Favorite Cover
It’s not that I dislike the cover, but of the choices it is my least favorite. It has Miss Peregrine and the house, but I dislike that it is stationary and generally loses the magic.
What is one fantasy book that you have read recently? If you have you read or seen Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, did you like it?
