January ended. I’ve been reading, so I thought I would update you all on the Around the World 2016 reading challenge.
One Book for Each Continent
Completed 3 of 7 Continents: Asia (The Girl at Midnight), Europe (13 Little Blue Envelopes), and North America (The Last Little Blue Envelope)
One Book for Each State
Completed 2 of 50 States: New Jersey (The Last Little Blue Envelope) and New York (The Girl at Midnight)
One Book for Each Ocean
Atlantic Ocean: 13 Little Blue Envelopes
Pacific Ocean: The Girl at Midnight. I’m not sure this counts since Echo never physically crossed that ocean and never said she did. Her travel was through something called the “in-between.” If I find another book that physically crosses this ocean, I will put it in this category.
Books Set in Capital Cities
Completed 3 of 6 books:
- Taipei, Taiwan (The Girl at Midnight)
- Copenhagen, Denmark (13 Little Blue Envelopes)
- Dublin, Ireland (The Last Little Blue Envelope)
I found one pseudo capital. Kyoto used to be the capital of Japan, and I would consider applying it to this mini-challenge, but the book it was in is not a historical fiction.
Books Set in at Least 5 Different Places
Completed 3 of 4 books: The Girl at Midnight, 13 Little Blue Envelopes, The Last Little Blue Envelope
Books Set in 2 Places from Different Continents
Completed 3 of 4 books: See the list from the previous mini-challenge.

At the moment, I’m taking “places” to mean cities and not the various buildings.

D – Dublin, Ireland (The Last Little Blue Envelope)

Do city-states, like Uruk, count? While that is still up for debate, I will leave it out of this count.

Completed 1 of 5 Fantasy Countries: Prythian (A Court of Thorns and Roses)
Authors from Different Countries
Completed 2 of 5 Countries
- United States: Melissa Grey

I’m reading some classics of the ancient world now, but most of it is written by unknown authors. I could assume who wrote it or where it was first told, but I would rather know for a fact where the author came from for this challenge.
That is how I’m doing on the Around the World 2016 reading challenge. Look in my challenges page for the link to the challenge.
